The H-G2SA is a 4.5-inch half-length Swiss Arca rail designed specifically for Ruger American Gen 2 short-action factory stocks. The rail mounts just forward of the magazine, at or near the rifle’s balance point. CNC machined from 6061-T6 aluminum, the rail follows the factory stock contour for a precise fit and installs using the front action screw as the rear attachment point.

Why Contour Matching Matters
Most accessory rails are designed as universal mounting solutions, using a relatively flat mounting surface against a curved or irregular factory stock.
SRA takes a different approach. We use 3D scanning technology to capture the actual geometry of the factory stock and create an accurate digital model. That model is then brought into CAD and used as the foundation for the rail design, allowing us to precisely shape the underside of the rail to match the stock's unique contour.
This creates substantially more contact between the rail and stock, distributing mounting forces across a larger area rather than concentrating them around individual mounting points. The result is a more rigid, integrated mounting platform with less opportunity for the factory polymer stock to flex under tripod or bipod load.
Just as importantly, the rail looks and feels like it was designed as part of the rifle—not added to it as an afterthought.

Increased Fore-End Rigidity
The half-length aluminum rail reinforces the factory polymer stock at one of its weakest points, just ahead of the front action screw. By using our replacement action screw as the rear rail mounting point, the half rail bridges this critical area, increasing fore-end rigidity and reducing unwanted stock flex. The more rigid platform helps maintain clearance between the stock and barrel when the rifle is supported from a tripod or bipod.

Basic Installation Step Summary
Remove the barreled action from the factory stock. Use the supplied rear drill guide to accurately locate and drill the mounting hole. Install the 10-32 nylon locking nut and nut keeper into the hex pocket. Reinstall the barreled action in the stock using the supplied replacement action screw. Secure the H-G2SA rail to the stock using the supplied mounting hardware. Typical installation time is approximately five minutes.

Can I still use a sling with the H-G2SA installed?
Yes. Installation of the H-G2SA does not remove or interfere with the factory front sling mount.
Will the H-G2SA fit a Ruger American Gen 1 rifle?
The H-G2SA may fit certain Ruger American Gen 1 short-action rifles equipped with the later-style factory stocks manufactured after about 2017. Compatibility depends on the stock's barrel-channel geometry, not simply the rifle generation. If you have a Gen 1 rifle and are unsure whether your stock is compatible, contact SRA before ordering and we can help you verify fitment.
What tripods heads are compatible with the H-G2SA?
The H-G2SA uses the standard Swiss Arca mounting interface and is compatible with most Arca-compatible tripod heads and clamps. It allows compatible accessories to be positioned fore and aft along the usable length of the rail for greater flexibility in rifle support and balance.
